adj.

3. (of a computer) designed for use by a single user on or at a desk or table. Desktop computers are too large to carry around easily, but not so large that they require their own separate piece of furniture. Most desktop computers plug in for power and communications and have a separate keyboard. Despite the name, desktop computers are often placed on the floor next to or under a desk. Desktop computers are the most common kind of computer and the easiest kind to manufacture.
